Are you interested to learn how we sell our books into Non-Trade retailers?

We’re looking for a Sales Assistant to join our Adult Non-Trade Sales team on a 12-month FTC. The team looks after sales into around 1,000 non-traditional retailers. Our key accounts include The Works; Urban Outfitters; ALDI; B&M; Neon Sheep; TK Maxx; and many more. We also think creatively to seek out partnership opportunities for our books, working with companies from Gucci to Greggs!

Reporting into the Sales Manager, you will assist on a number of key Non-Trade accounts such as ALDI, Lidl, Primark and promotional wholesalers; and support the team by preparing and following-up sales meetings; and costing and co-ordinating print runs. You will process small orders, fulfil customer documentation requests and assist with research for new customer contacts, so having an eye-for-detail and being diligent are key skills we’re looking for.

The team you’ll be joining works across the seven Adult Penguin Random House publishing houses and you will help to identify titles from their catalogues that are suitable for key Non Trade accounts. This role requires you to liaise with many other teams across the company including Production, Inventory, Editorial, Royalties and Contracts. This means you’ll need to communicate confidently and balance multiple priorities effectively.

The most important skills needed for this role are strong organisational skills, keen attention to detail, excellent communication and a can-do attitude.

You should also have a solid understanding and experience of using Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel. You don’t need to have prior publishing experience, we’ll teach you everything you need to know about our sales team and company to be successful within this role.

If you’re up for the challenge, please apply with your CV and cover letter by midnight, Thursday 21st October 2021.

Salary: You‘ll start on £24,000. Expect a £1,000 increase on your first anniversary in this role and a further £1,000 on your second to reflect your growing contribution.
