Michael Joseph is looking for a highly organised Publishing Coordinator to provide PA and administrative support to one of its Publishing Directors in all their daily activities.

 

The role will also take administrative responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of a diverse list, spanning fiction and non-fiction titles including the hugely successful Ladybird Books for Grown-Ups.

 

Main duties will include:

  • Full diary management for Publishing Director, and also inbox management
  • Ensuring the Publishing Director has any notes required in advance of meetings, highlighting any preparation required and blocking out suitable time for planning and travel time where appropriate
  • Working with the Publishing Director to agree expectations for any early morning appointments
  • Recording responses to submissions
  • Book external lunches and meetings, sending confirmations
  • Check voicemails daily, responding where appropriate
  • Processing expenses
  • Tracking progress of work within the team, following up on actions
  • Liaise with freelance editors and authors as required to shepherd manuscripts into production
  • Pay delivery advances
  • Management of the publication/production critical path of all titles and progress chasing contracts to signature
  • Updating and managing all title metadata on B3 system, including the new Ladybird Experts publishing programme

 

We’re looking for someone who is a natural project manager with a passion for organising; someone who can build great working relationships and use these to help the team track its progress on activities, ensuring work is on time and continually moving forwards.

 

You will be excellent at communicating to a wide range of people, and you will be keen to use your personal initiative and proactive attitude. This role would suit someone with exceptional organisational skills who wishes to pursue an administrative role within a highly creative environment.
