If you’re a Programme Manager with experience in successfully delivering Supply Chain process and technology change, this could be a great opportunity for you. We’re looking for someone to join our team to lead on the delivery of a key set of changes for Penguin Random House, within our Strategic Supply Chain programme. You will be instrumental in driving forward the Programme with best practice, bringing the wider teams – in Distribution and Technology in particular - on the journey with you to ensure projects are delivered on time, to scope and quality expectations, and within budget. 

As Programme Manager, you’ll provide an escalation route for Project Managers working within the Supply Chain portfolio of projects as well as supporting colleagues working directly alongside you. You will be an expert with prioritisation, decision-making and problem-solving. 

 

Reporting directly into the Strategic Projects Director, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the wider Projects team, gaining insight to the wider Penguin Random House portfolio as you deliver. 

 

Core responsibilities:

  • Lead the day to day management governance, progress to plan, critical path,scope, risks and issues, working with the MD for Distribution and other key stakeholders

  • Status reporting and ownership of key programme documentation (e.g. RAIDs, Plans)

  • Ensure that our priorities and collective delivery reflect the full breadth of considerations, be they process change, business change, deployment approaches and activity, technical requirements, systems build or data-related change

  • Manage and support the team of project managers working on evolving transformational drivers regarding their priorities, delivery plans and escalations and support them to manage dependencies between their projects

  • Problem-solving and re-planning within the programme as is needed – for risk mitigations or changes as they arise

  • Balance priorities across the programme and support delivery of milestones and construction of contingency and mitigation plans when there are issues expected or encountered

  • Liaison with the technology Design Authority to ensure rapid reviews of requirements and their progress through to next stages in their lifecycle

  • Liaison with suppliers and external stakeholders as is needed for delivery of workload

  • Delivery of presentations about the programme to key stakeholders and business teams (e.g. Business Owners’ forum)

  • Facilitation of key workshops, meetings and liaison with Business Leads across departments involved

  • Working with the Comms lead and Business Change Manager for the programme to ensure their activities dovetail with the wider delivery plan

  • Working with colleagues in Finance for budget-monitoring and tracking


Experience we’re looking for:

  • Ability to lead a large-scale complex programme of work within a supply chain environment when process and technology change is prevalent


Experience in:

  • You will thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Good at making decisions under tight timescales and solve complex problems

  • Familiar with standard Programme and Project Management concepts ( MSP and Prince 2 methodologies), processes and ability to flex these to best organisational use

  • Direct project & programme experience of large business-change, distribution, data and IT-focussed projects

  • Be able to demonstrate experience in project reporting, risks and issue reporting, dependency management, financial tracking and working with senior stakeholders to director level

  • Excellent organisational skills, with proven ability to prioritise and proactively manage workloads

  • Understanding of large technology and process change programmes and ability to build credible and robust relationships with colleagues working in that environment

  • Competent in use of other Microsoft office tools (Word and PowerPoint, Visio, Teams)


Salary: £75-80k dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
