PowerBI Data Modeller, Technology



An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Power BI Data Modeller to join the team based at our London office. You will be reporting into Data Visualisation Manager.

We are implementing Power BI early next year and require an expert in Power BI & Data Modelling to come on board to advise, create and maintain Power BI Data Models for the business.

You will be able to advice, create and maintain Power BI Data Models for the business, using both the Power BI Data Modelling tools and 3rd party plug ins available. This is accomplished via both dedicated project work and BAU support/enhancement work, supporting projects and maintaining business service during periods of change.


This is a lead position within the company on how to best use the data modelling tools and act as an integral link for the business into the often-complex data available.


You will provide on-going support for these systems and solutions, whilst liaising with the business and other IT functions and meanwhile sharing the knowledge and learnings with the internal team.


Your Key Responsibilities & Duties required for this role:

Power BI

  • Data Modelling support, troubleshooting and development
  • Driving best practice & knowledge sharing across the internal team & wider company
  • Working closely with Data Team (visualisation, ETL & architects) to ensure optimal & accurate Power BI models


  • Work on small/medium sized projects to extend/enhance Data Models
  • Collaborate with the global Power BI & Data teams on global projects
  • Perform system testing, unit testing and integration testing on projects
  • Maintain documentation for existing BI systems
  • Provide team KT/training

Business Relationships

  • Working closely with Solution Architects and Engineers in order to advise on necessary changes to data layers to support business use case models for efficient exploitation of data in a model
  • Maintain a good relationship with Business Intelligence customers/users
  • Process and resolve assigned support tickets for incidents and change requests


You will also need:

  • Relevant experience in Power BI & Data Models
  • Requirement to develop/support in the above
  • Experience working with Kimball methodology
  • Experience in DAX & SQL coding
  • Experience with a range of on premise and cloud data sources (E.g., Snowflake, Azure)
  • Experience with working in a project environment, including requirements gathering with business users and different cycles of testing, e.g. unit testing, system testing, integration testing
  • Experienced and confident in liaising with both technical and business focussed stakeholders
  • Extensive experience of testing for data quality and accuracy
  • Multiple iterations of taking business/user requirements and translating them into Data Models


Nice to have skills:

  • Understanding of Agile Development Methodology
  • Experience working with Data governance and catalogues and their effectiveness integrating with Power BI Data Models
  • Understanding of SAP Business Objects reporting & universe design
