Pensions Advisor, Group Finance

We are recruiting for a Pensions Advisor to join our Group Finance team on a permanent basis. This role will be based at our Vauxhall Bridge office and will also be split between our new office at Embassy Gardens in 2020.

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for providing an efficient service to members of the company’s defined contribution (DC) pension schemes. Penguin Random House UK currently operates two DC pension schemes and also offers a separate auto-enrolment pension arrangement (NEST).

You will manage the relationship with each of the DC scheme’s outsourced providers and  will respond to questions raised by Scheme members (at times up to half of the role might be taken up by this responsibility). Internal liaison with various company departments will also be involved.

Your day to day responsibilities will also involve:

  • Manage the annual benefit statement projects for each pension scheme, involving the Pensions Manager where necessary, in order to ensure that statements are issued in a timely fashion and contain correct information.
  • Assist the Pensions Manager and Secretary to the Trustees in organising and attending meetings of the Trustees and their various committees. As part of the role the incumbent will liaise with external consultants to ensure relevant information is distributed, preparing briefing papers where necessary. 
  • Work with the Pensions Manager in the preparation and management of regular internal communications to DC Scheme members, such as each Scheme’s Annual Report.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that all pension information held on the Company’s intranet, benefits portal and on the various pension scheme websites is constantly updated.

The personal characteristics we are looking for are:

  • At least three years’ experience of working as part of an in-house pension team or as part of a pensions and benefits consultancy.
  • Either APMI qualified or currently studying towards these exams.
  • Technically competent in the day to day running of defined contribution occupational pension schemes.
  • Ability to explain clearly and succinctly technical pension issues that may be raised by scheme members. Such issues might include, but are not limited to, the Annual Allowance, the Lifetime Allowance and the range of fund choices made available to members of the various DC pension schemes.
