PR & Admin Assistant, Cornerstone

Cornerstone is looking for a new PR & Admin Assistant to join its award-winning team and help facilitate the smooth running of the department.


Cornerstone is made up of Century, Hutchinson Heinemann, #Merky Books, Del Rey and Random House Business Books. We publish a broad range of titles across fiction and non-fiction: commercial and literary – from Ramla Ali to James Patterson; Tom Hanks to Grace Beverley Hanks; Sebastian Faulks to Lisa Jewell and Robert Harris to Star Wars.


This is a varied role, with no two days the same. On the day to day, you’ll provide organisational support to the team, which involves arranging mailings, fielding media enquiries, maintaining team and campaign updates and databases, research tasks, scheduling internal and external meetings, updating diaries and schedules, booking author travel and accommodation, assisting with the arrangements of (virtual) events and other ad hoc tasks.


We are looking for someone with exceptional organisational and admin skills who can respond flexibly and positively to a busy workload and multiple deadlines. You will be comfortable on the phone and over video conferencing, with excellent and confident interpersonal skills, as you will be communicating regularly with the rest of the team and members of the press.


This role will suit a team player with a pro-active approach to their work and strong time management skills. You’ll be IT literate in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, and quick to pick up new systems, show meticulous attention to detail and be able to prioritise under pressure. You don’t need previous publishing experience but we’re looking for someone brimming with positivity, professionalism and bright ideas, with an interest in the media and the books we publish.

All interviews will be conducted virtually and we’re currently working remotely and expect to be able to return to our office from late July. At this point, we will also be starting a trial of hybrid working across our company and we’re happy to discuss flexible working options at interview stage. This role will be based in our Vauxhall Bridge Road office (SW1V 2SA).

Salary: You‘ll start on £24,000. Expect a £1,000 increase on your first anniversary in this role and a further £1,000 on your second to reflect your growing contribution.
