We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Manager to join the Penguin Random House Children’s team on a permanent basis.

If you are a marketer looking for a new challenge and you’re able to deliver compelling, successful and audience focused strategies and promotions for our key brands and authors, this could be the role for you!

Puffin is home to some of UK’s most popular brands, authors and stories including Roald Dahl, Spot and Peter Rabbit as well as showcasing and supporting incredible new talents like Nathan Bryon, Hana Tooke, Tom Fletcher and Nadia Shireen. Our Penguin list boasts Malorie Blackman, Philip Pullman and teen thriller queen Karen McManus. This role will have a particular focus – amongst others – on the teen / young adult market of 13+.

Your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Using audience insight to build creative, consumer-focused campaigns which consistently deliver growth
  • Monitoring and evaluating campaign performance and competitor activity
  • Working as part of the Marketing & PR team to support and collaborate where needed to deliver campaigns
  • Communicating effectively with the wider business including Editorial, PR, Sales, Design, Production etc to ensure the campaigns run smoothly and achieve results

To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience of working across multiple projects and will have excellent relationship building skills with both internal and external contacts. An effective decision maker with a proactive approach and the ability to lead by example will be key.

Our creativity is inspired by different perspectives, so we strive for our culture to be one of belonging, where everyone feels welcome and where differences are celebrated. We want to work with a wide range of talent as we find new ways to tell our stories. That is where you come in. You don’t have to come from a traditional publishing background or have a degree to be considered - we want to hear from different voices throughout the UK and see fresh perspectives.

Experience of creating strategic and effective marketing campaigns and managing budgets is essential, and experience in children’s media would be beneficial in this role.

If you’d like to apply, please submit your CV and a Cover Letter by midnight on Sunday 15th August 2021.

As part of your application, we’d like you to respond to the following question in your Cover Letter:

  • This role will have a primary focus on our Young Adult (ya) list, for children/teens aged 13+. Please could you share with us a recent marketing campaign aimed at this demographic that you thought was particularly successful, and tell us why?

Salary: Up to £36,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.

We’re happy to consider candidates from outside of London who’d like to apply for this position. Once it is safe for us to be back in the office, the role will be based in our new Embassy Gardens office in Nine Elms (SW11 7BW), London. We offer flexible working options and will be happy to discuss this in more detail at interview stage.
