Key Account Manager, ANZ - Children's

The Opportunity 


The international sales team is looking for a confident, commercially aware individual to join their department as Key Account Manager. Reporting to the Sales Director for Australia & New Zealand, this role will be responsible for implementing ambitious sales strategies and uncovering new opportunities for growth in this important territory, working across the Penguin Random House Children’s (PRHC) list.  


Your mission will be to manage key relationships with the local teams, maximise turnover, identify new opportunities for our publishing and bring a market-facing perspective back to the business. 


Relationships are at the core of this role, you will be working closely with the Children’s Head of International Sales as well as being a crucial point of contact for the wider international sales and operations teams. You will work collaboratively with publishing and communications colleagues within PRHC and other internal account managers to proactively drive sales opportunities and connect our customers with our authors, brands and books all around the world.  


Candidate Profile: 


  • Proven experience in a sales role or similar, with proven customer relationships and accounts experience, ideally within a creative environment. Direct experience working with international markets is preferred. 

  • Genuine interest in Children’s books and sales; as you grow within the role and team, you will build excellent knowledge of our Ladybird, Puffin and Penguin lists and develop on your existing commercial instincts. 

  • A keen focus on the commercial side of the business, with a sense of adventure that means you are always thinking of creative ways to make our successes even bigger and on a global scale.  

  • Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work autonomously and use initiative.  

  • You’ll be working closely with a wide variety of stakeholders internally and externally, so being able to collaborate, persuade and communicate confidently will drive your success in this role. 

  • A knack for numbers, data and analytics will add rigour to your conversations. You will regularly share product information with our wider sales team, so evident analytical ability is important.

What you can expect from us:


Salary: circa  £35,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus benefits.  


This role will be based between our Vauxhall Bridge Road and Embassy Gardens offices. We’re currently experimenting with hybrid working and involving colleagues across the business to shape our future ways of working.
