We are looking for an experienced interim Senior SAP Manager who can assist in the leadership of the operational side of SAP & Finance Systems Centre of Excellence in Penguin Random House UK whilst we are driving an overall technology team transformation and delivering the largest integration technology programme Penguin Random House has undertaken.

The Senior SAP Manager will work with the Head of SAP & Finance systems to provide direction and strategic  leadership of the SAP systems and its core applications.

• Responsible for cross Applications / Functional competencies provisioned within PRH Technology, leading the SAP cross functional support teams (SD, MM, FICO), functional governance and senior business stakeholder engagement across responsible solution areas

• Responsible for the technical & environmental management of SAP including basis, security & authorisations as well as job scheduling to ensure the environments are managed optimally and change/release is controlled in order to provide a robust and resilient business service

• Working closely with senior management, senior key business leaders, programme directors and technology colleagues to ensure the provision of high-quality support, deliver wider application solution governance, and champion the associated roadmaps of improvement projects and initiatives relating to the current SAP solution (Including tools where applicable).

• Ensuring incidents, standard requests and development for business change is delivered to a high quality, under clear prioritisation to meet business needs.

• Provide leadership to the business on their use and development of the SAP and related Non-SAP systems portfolios.

You’re Knowledge, Skills that are required for this role:-

• Accountable for delivering and maintaining functionality, system availability, security and performance to meet service levels and future business needs with a strong focus on the business requirement.

• Ensure robust measures in place and regularly tested to maintain or recover the delivery of systems and services in the event of any physical, technical or environmental incident or outage, ensuring the continuity of the systems and services to the client organization.

• To establish and maintain efficient and cost-effective support to an effective applications service delivery operation.

• Provide clear leadership and management SAP and Finance applications (and development and support areas including both internal and 3rd party service providers across the technology function.

• Provide governance over release, capacity and testing.

• Provide technical support to both IT managed services and commercial developments from across the business utilising industry best practices.

• Deliver applications projects, changes and enhancements.

• Proactively manage and interface with 3rd party service providers, ensuring fixes or enhancements are delivered within predefined SLA timescales.

• Develop and provide regular reporting against PRH UK service targets.

• Interface with the Technology Service Desk, resolving technical issues and assisting with problem management in finding permanent solutions.

• Deliver against key financial targets for the team.

• Build close relationships with key internal users, senior managers and external suppliers.

• Establish best-practice development standards, documentation and quality control processes across all applications development.

• Works collaboratively with the Architecture function to ensure that plans and standards are created, effectively maintained and controlled.

• Work with other areas of Penguin Random House Technology and business areas to ensure the successful deployment of applications in line with business needs and as designed.

• Ensure that Penguin Random House Technology meet legal and audit requirements related to the delivery of IT applications Services.

• Establish a flexible resource capability utilising internal and 3rd party services to enable rapid reaction at low cost, to varying business demands.

• To establish and maintain appropriate team structure, skill levels and size to work collaboratively with other IT and business areas providing on-going support, advice and subject matter expertise for projects, programmes and architecture.

• Mentor and provide guidance to Technical Specialists within the team.

• Manage direct team of up to 20 (contract, permanent and external supplier embedded resources)

• Establish and manage several supplier services

You will also need -

• Significant experience of IT applications development and support management in a complex distribution environment

• Significant SAP support and development experience using 3rd parties and the CoE concept

• Senior Management / Leadership experience, leading multiple teams in excess of 30 resources

• Highly knowledgeable on the typical wide range of technologies deployed in a publishing focussed business.

• Up to date knowledge of current technologies

• Demonstrable ability to create high performance teams

• Excellent track record in both service and people development

• Ability to communicate at all levels and provide information to a diverse stakeholder group

• Excellent stakeholder management skills

• Experience in dealing with 3rd party suppliers and working with them to achieve results

• A high level knowledge of SAP across technical and functional application areas

• Proven ability to lead geographically dispersed teams (onshore / offshore)

• Proven ability to take ownership of problems and the decision making process to resolve them

Nice to have skills:-

• Experience of ‘Hands-On’ SAP function areas and integration points

• Understanding of the key ITIL processes used by the business including incident management, request fulfilment, change and release management.

• Articulate, with good analytical abilities, interpersonal, and reporting skills

• In-depth experience handling diverse and complicated issues.
