We are looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental Co-ordinator to join our Facilities team.

 

You’ll be responsible for the Health & Safety Plan and Environmental initiatives across Penguin Random House and Dorling Kindersley (DK). You will provide advice, information and assistance to staff, ensuring that all health and safety obligations are met and that there is consistency across the organisation.

 

You will look at areas where energy consumption can be improved and will drive forward energy management initiatives.

 

This role will be based across all our London offices (Vauxhall Bridge, Strand & Ealing).

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Analyse site risks and bring solutions to improve working conditions and the level of industrial safety
  • Co-ordinate and lead on accident and incident investigations
  • Ensure compliance across the Group with requirements in COSHH, Manual Handling, PPE, DSE and Health and Hygiene standards and objectives.
  • Identify training needs from legislation, performance monitoring, safety audits and inspections.
  • Manage site first aider and fire marshal provision and arrange fire evacuation drills
  • Update the company H&S policy with input from site-appointed persons
  • Arrange fire risk assessments, PAT inspections, fixed electrical inspections, TM44 etc.
  • To carry out specific risk assessments for work processes and company events.
  • Raise awareness of environmental issues and assist with any company-wide ‘Green’ schemes
  • Ensure compliance and carry out reviews of waste management and recycling and to bring in initiatives across the business

 

What we’re looking for:

 

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of RIDDOR reporting
  • Knowledge of national legislation
  • Knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO18001

 

Also desirable would be experience of working within publishing, media or related industry, and NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent H&S training.

 

You’ll need to have excellent verbal and written communications skills and have an ability to analyse information and create solutions that meet customer requirements. You will also need to be able to motivate and inspire others and be able to manage competing pressures to deliver to strict deadlines.
