Head of Publishing, Ebury Partnerships

Ebury is the home of non-fiction publishing. Part of Penguin Random House UK, our list runs from cookery and sport to business and psychology. We publish outstanding books with partner brands like Abel & Cole, the National Archives, BrewDog, Organix, The Female Lead, Slimming World, Fortnum & Mason and the Royal Albert Hall.

This is an exciting new opportunity to run our brand publishing arm. As Head of Publishing, Ebury Partnerships, you will commission titles across all non-fiction genres, and deliver a stream of new deals with businesses and organisations for bespoke books and content. You’ll build a high-growth strategy for custom publishing, including illustrated titles, special editions and repurposed content. Leading a small editorial unit, you’ll partner with sales teams and shape the list to commercial, reputational and market success.

This is a rare opportunity for someone with a keen publishing eye and a relentless appetite for creating sales. You might be a publisher with entrepreneurial drive, or perhaps a sales or marketing specialist with creative publishing vision.

A growth mindset and the ability to spot new opportunities will be crucial, alongside pitching flair. Your negotiation skills will be outstanding, and you’ll have a keen eye for detail when it comes to closing contracts.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • New business development: Growing the portfolio with new partner brands and organisations, influencing them to invest in book projects with Ebury
  • Publishing: Establishing and shaping all books on the list and overseeing editorial process
  • Sales growth: Owning the revenue that comes into the Ebury Partnerships team and working closely with non-trade sales and finance
  • Brand partnerships: Delivering a first class publishing experience to brands and attracting the highest level talent through excellent author care
  • Management: Recruiting, training and developing a small team
  • Networks: Developing relationships with select agents, identifying and working with 3rd party agencies and working with Ebury hubs and colleagues across Penguin Random House to generate new ideas and leads
