We’re looking for a Head of HR to lead our HR Generalist function as a maternity cover across the UK business – covering our publishing houses, group functions (like Sales and Finance), and distribution warehouses.


In this key leadership role, your role will be to coach, energise and inspire your team across the whole HR spectrum.

  • You’ll head up a team of fourteen, with four HR Managers and an HR Admin Team Leader as direct reports.
    You’ll handle Employee Relations and organisation design thoughtfully and creatively, as well as getting stuck into the nitty gritty.
  • You’ll bring your curiosity and perspective to leading your team – and collaborate with colleagues from Organisational Development, Resourcing and Learning and Development – to deliver strategic priorities including Talent, Inclusion and Wellness.

  • You’ll need to be an experienced and inspiring leader – able to use your coaching skills to develop your team, and partner with senior colleagues.
  • You’ll have solid technical expertise on employment law; the ability to handle complex and sensitive cases; and the knowledge of trends within the HR world so you can bring the outside in.
  • You’ll need to be a confident self-starter who’s at home navigating through shades of grey and big and small change.
