Are you looking for the next step in your accounting career?

This is an exciting commercial role in our publishing finance team as a Finance Analyst for our Penguin Random House Children’s publishing house. This role is a fixed term contract for 12 months.

Us

Our finance teams work closely with colleagues across the business, such as Sales, Rights, Contracts, Marketing & Publicity, Digital Development, Editorial and Ventures.

Penguin Random House Children’s is the market leader in show-stopping children’s authors and brands. From Peter Rabbit, Peppa Pig, Roald Dahl and Very Hungry Caterpillar to Phillip Pullman, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Tom Fletcher.

You

Working in a creative environment with an emphasis on business partnering, you’ll need to be able to build strong relationships outside of finance. That means that you’ll quickly be able to build trust, and be able to explain data and financial concepts to a non-financial audience without the jargon.

  • You will work on month end routines – reconciling P&L lines, preparation & posting of journals, management accounts and overhead reports.
  • You will prepare acquisition P&L’s, including recommendations to Editorial on levels of advances and ways to improve financial position.
  • You will create reports with regular analysis of performance on title and author profitability.
  • You will be responsible for the preparation of ad hoc reports, including analysing, evaluating and commenting on the findings.
  • You will assist with budget and forecast preparation.
  • You will be able to learn how to use internal systems and follow processes.

We’re looking for someone with experience in an accounting role who’s highly analytical and has keen attention to detail. Our Finance Analysts are proactive and need good time management and prioritisation skills, as you’ll be expected to work independently and organise your own workload.

You’ll need advanced knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, vlookups and complex formulae, and be comfortable building reports.

If this sounds like you, apply now with a CV and cover letter by 22nd July.
