They have a fantastic opportunity for a creative, highly organised and enthusiastic individual to join the team who create books for readers aged 6 and upwards as an Editorial Assistant.

 

In this role you will provide full administrative support to the Publisher and Publishing Director, and some editorial and administrative support to the wider Editorial team, liaising with colleagues, authors, agents and internal departments on a daily basis. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including diary management, reading and reporting on submissions, managing and maintaining departmental systems and dealing with author and agent enquiries.

 

The team is looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working self-starter - someone who is full of ideas and who wants to immerse themselves fully in the titles that our Children’s team publish. You will need to have proven administration and organisational skills, pay meticulous attention to detail, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A big part of what the Puffin team do is to pay attention to what’s happening in the world and spotting new trends and voices who would speak well to young people. Please share with us your thoughts on a person with some sort of platform or profile in any area who you think could write an interesting book for children or teens and why.

 

  • In this role, you’ll be tasked with reading and reporting on new manuscripts that have been submitted for potential publication by the team. We’d like to see your writing style, so please write us a book review of a book you’ve recently read, and convince us why we should read it too. We’ll be keeping an eye out for your persuasive ability!

Salary: You‘ll start on £24,000. Expect a £1,000 increase on your first anniversary in this role and a further £1,000 on your second to reflect your growing contribution.
