Can you lead the UK’s largest publishing house in its Online First strategy?


We’ve got an exciting opportunity for a Director of BI, Online and Data to head up and shape the BI, Data & Analytics, Digital Marketing and e-Commerce solutions functions; all technologies that are fundamental in moving Penguin Random House ahead in an Online First approach to publishing.


Here’s what the role involves:


Working with people – this encompasses anything from senior stakeholder management, managing the BI, Online and Data teams within Technology, and consulting with the Audiences & Audio division.


Strategy – both in terms of representing Technology and the BI & Online team at a business-wide level and continually reviewing the BI, Online and Data team organisation and governance, roadmaps and operational plans.


Delivery – ensuring projects and programmes are delivered on time and within budget, leading an operational team tasked with collection and management of data.


Management – inspiring, leading and developing a team, working with HR on team performance and recruitment.


You’ll need proven experience in:


  • Implementing and managing BI and Data Analytics
  • Managing and implementing Enterprise-grade web content management, ecommerce and digital marketing solutions
  • People and team management and development
  • Working at a commercially-focussed role at a consumer-facing business – media or publishing a bonus
  • Full Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), waterfall and agile software development methodologies (DSDM, Scrum, Kanban)
  • Successfully building agile teams and implementing agile working practices.
  • Influencing senior level management and stakeholders


You’ll also be a PRINCE practitioner, PMI or equivalent, and Agile SDLC and ITIL would be desirable.


We’re looking for someone with excellent communication skills who can build strong working relationships and influence senior stakeholders. You’ll be forward thinking, embrace different ways of thinking and interested in continually revising processes.
