Design Manager (6m FTC), Penguin Random House Children's

Are you looking for a new challenge within licensed education publishing, in a creative and supportive environment?

We are looking for a Design Manager to join our Penguin Random House Children's team on a 6 month fixed term basis, to lead a new education series on our Ladybird list. You’ll work closely with the Art Director and editorial and sales teams across our international markets to scope and deliver this project.

You’ll be responsible for developing a series style and ensuring it is applied consistently across all of the books within the range. You’ll have experience of working on licensed properties, costing projects, working with external freelancers and packagers and a passion for producing strong designs that will enhance the reading experience of our learners around the world. The role will involve establishing a strong visual look for this new educational series, selecting and skillfully negotiating with the right suppliers to deliver each project and responding to tight deadlines whilst remaining patient amongst ever-changing demands.

You will be working within a dedicated editorial and design team and with sales and marketing colleagues in a fast-paced and vibrant environment. As such, you must be open-minded and flexible, a talented communicator and able to work as part of a team, managing time effectively and handling competing priorities.

What you’ll get in return is the opportunity to work with some of the leading brands in children’s licensing; producing effective designs across a range of formats and the chance to make connections with colleagues from across the business.

It’s an exciting time to join Ladybird, so if this position sounds like your next move, please apply with a CV,  a Cover Letter that tells us why this opportunity caught your eye and 3 examples of your design work that you're most proud of.

The closing date for this opportunity is midnight on Monday 17th May 2021.

Salary: £36,000 – £40,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
