We are implementing a cultural and technology change to drive the business advantages of data for the largest publisher in the world. This will start with the renewal of our entire Enterprise Data Platform through 2021, includes the creation of a dedicated data governance team using dedicated tooling, working with business teams to Catalog, govern, and drive quality for our data assets.

 

The Data Governance Team will be responsible for improving the relationships and collaboration of technical data teams with the wider business.

You will be a part of the Data Team, a data engineering centre of excellence for PRH UK and will become a trusted advocate for Data in PRH.

 

We are looking for a data governance analyst to help create and implement the right Data Governance Strategy, processes, reporting and curate an Enterprise Data Catalog.

 

Reporting to the Data Governance Manager, you will develop close relationships with chosen business departments and help them understand the data assets they use/own and embed good Data Governance practice. You will document this into the data Catalog solution, including a glossary entry, lineage paths and quality metrics.

Your Key Responsibilities & Duties required for this role:

Data Catalog

  • Implement the Data Catalog solution, set the standards that will ensure successful adoption and become an expert user.
  • Document enterprise data sets into the Data Catalog, including named ownership, glossary names, metric definitions and detailed descriptions.
  • Systematically undertake Data Lineage discovery.

Data Governance

  • Be a thoughtful and effective communicator with the ability to explain complex data concepts to general business users in a simple and clear way.
  • Support the Data Governance Team in facilitating cross-departmental conversations, create new governance policies and prepare support materials for the Data Governance workshops and meetings.
  • Evangelise the benefits and outcomes of Data Governance to the business.
  • You will help identify data issues and prioritise issues, help drive an improvement plan and support the business to resolve material Data Quality Issues.
  • You will create status and compliance reporting/Dashboards of regular data feeds, processes, data quality rules and other necessary elements to protect the integrity of the data so business teams can use the data in confidence and generate value.

General

  • Work on varied size agile projects in relation to the renewal of the Enterprise Data Platform.
  • Collaborate with the global Power BI, Data Engineering and Data Science teams on global projects
  • Perform system testing, unit testing and integration testing for Data on projects
  • Maintain documentation for existing BI systems
  • Provide training on Data Governance
  • Assist and be part of the team supporting the existing BAU Support of the Data Teams

 

You will also need:

  • Significant experience as a Data Governance Analyst, Data Analyst or Data Steward.
  • Extensive experience in Data Profiling and Data Dictionary creation.
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Solid understanding of Data Structures and Data Technologies.
  • Experience of creating dashboards (i.e. PowerBI/Tableau) and other presentation means to drive data quality and insight.
  • Be a thoughtful and effective communicator.
  • Ability to build rapport, nurture business relationships and establish clear communication styles with commercial and technology teams.
  • Experience with working in a project environment, including requirements gathering and testing cycles focused on Data Quality.
  • Familiarity with Agile or DevOps Methodology
