Do you want to build scalable solutions that provide business critical insights by working closely with our Data Scientists?  


We are looking for a Data Engineer (12 month maternity cover) to join our Data Science and Analytics team. Working with Data Scientists and Visualisation Developers, you will be the technical expert responsible for building and maintaining an effective data analytics infrastructure, to enable the team delivering meaningful results in their machine learning algorithms, data visualisation products, and timely, data-driven insights. 

 

You will:

 

Provide our data scientists and analytics professionals with the infrastructure to support their work
Source data and investigate new data sources (flat files, databases, APIs, websites)
partner with members of the Data Science team and enterprise ETL developers to identify, collect and transform data for research and analysis 
Identify and diagnose data inconsistencies and errors
Advise on best practice in data infrastructure technologies to host analytics-friendly data

 

To be successful in this role you’ll have: 

Fluency in Python, with experience using the NumPy/Pandas stack and Python ML tools
Excellent SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL or other RDBMS
Proven experience composing and maintaining AWS technologies to support data infrastructure and analytics automation
Experience working with Snowflake, or other cloud-based data warehouses
Experience developing, testing, debugging and documenting programs and scripts
Experience manipulating and joining both structured and unstructured data in different formats (e.g. CSV, JSON, XML) from a variety of sources (e.g. FTP server, REST API)
Familiarity with Unix-based operating systems and command-line tools
Experience designing efficient and robust ETL/ELT workflows, schedulers, and event-based triggers 
A solid grasp of Agile methodology
Comfortable using Git for version control, with experience building Continuous Integration/Deployment pipelines
Experience using containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes as part of data science and data engineering workflows

A relevant qualification in Statistics, Economics, or an equivalent quantitative field
As a key support for the business, you will be comfortable working alone or as part of a wider team, and able to articulate your ideas and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences alike.


It goes without saying that you’ll have a logical mindset and be able to proactively resolve issues when they arise. Strong technical knowledge of Data Science and comfort with utilizing team collaboration software (issue tracking, project management, document sharing, etc.) will be highly valuable.
