Cloud Platform Administrator, Technology

We are implementing an all new end to end cloud data platform and adopting a Dev/DataOps working culture. We need to constantly align our data platform strategy to our business strategy, ensuring our work is driven by business use cases and generated value.
The adoption of Product Management will drive this mindset.The Enterprise Data Platform Admin will report to the Lead Data Engineer, Data Platform. Working closely together with the architect and the development team, the admin will apply their release management and infrastructure knowledge to implement DevOps, Automation, Snowflake Administration, Security Admin and Best practices etc.The Administrator will control the releases and ensure that best practices are designed and implemented.


Your Key Responsibilities & Duties required for this role:
•    Design, automate and manage provisioning needs, such as Snowflake storage and compute components, Role Based Access Control model and User Access
•    Coordinate and collaborate with dependent infrastructure and AWS services to implement Snowflake integration with services, such as PrivateLink, S3, IAM, SSO, Encryption etc.
•    Implement backup, replication and recovery policies and procedures
•    Tuning for better performance and optimizing compute utilization
•    Implement DevOps/CICD framework and solutions for provisioning snowflake components and application code deployments
•    Release Management as part of DevOps
•    Define standards and practices for platform use, provide technical expertise and troubleshooting
•    Contribute to adoption of Snowflake, DBT, AWS, Power BI etc. as part of the enterprise technology stack
•    Provide support for change management, governance compliance, internal audits and remediation. On-call support during critical application rollouts and issues.
•    Work with Snowflake vendor in communicating and resolving platform challenges
•    Provide technical leadership, mentoring and oversight for evolving Snowflake admins

You will also need:
•    Significant experience with overall Admin experience – database, infra, security
•    Relevant experience with Snowflake - experience (or equivalent training/certification) preferred in enabling, operationalizing and administration of Snowflake Cloud Data Platform –Virtual Warehouse Mgmt, SQL, Snowpipe, Copy etc.
•    Relevant experience  with AWS Services (S3, IAM, SQS, SNS etc)
•    Relevant experience  CI/CD – Terraform, Git, Jenkins etc
•    Ability to learn new technologies quickly, and perform major job responsibilities proficiently within 6-12 months
•    Strong analytical ability, problem analysis techniques, and broad knowledge of technology alternatives
•    Strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with business and IT partners


Nice to have Skills:
•    DBT, Power BI, Fivetran
•    Automation Experience – Python etc
•    JIRA , Confluence


Salary: Circa £55k dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role,plus bonus and benefits
