We have an amazing opportunity for a commercial and creative Brand Manager to join the Penguin Random House team to invigorate our consumer brands – Penguin, Puffin and Ladybird – across all our platforms, products and channels.


In this role, you will be a brand guardian – providing guidance around best-practice and implementation of our brand guidelines, both in the UK and globally. You will also be looking at new and creative ways in which the Penguin, Puffin and Ladybird brands can reach and interact with our consumers. Working collaboratively with the business, you will be the ambassador for driving awareness and retention of our consumer brands externally as well as galvanising and embedding our own brand values internally.


Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Working with the Brand Director, you will be a focal point and catalyst for the Penguin Random House UK brand
  • Managing best practice and be the authority on the use of the Penguin, Puffin and Ladybird guidelines
  • Ensuring that brand guidelines are understood and delivered consistently across all channels of communication
  • Consulting on projects to improve the customer experience of Penguin, Puffin and Ladybirds as both individual and associated brands
  • Acting as a key link with the digital team, you will assist with consumer-facing brand initiatives such as Penguin Flipper, Penguin Shop and Penguin Pride
  • Driving the development and growth of the Penguin Collection merchandise range
  • Working with the Penguin Ventures team to develop a Penguin brand licensing programme
  • Initiating and facilitating key brand moments and campaigns
  • Working closely with the Audience and Digital  teams to continue defining and refining the Penguin brand identity online – in both voice as well as design
  • Collaborating with colleagues to identify and develop external brand partnerships
  • Supporting the Communications team on CSR programmes to provide links to PRH CSR activity
  • Working alongside the Children’s Marketing, Publicity and Editorial teams to ensure that branded partnerships and initiatives, such as Puffin World of Stories, are on-brand and achieving maximum impact


We are looking for someone with a brands marketing background, who is a prolific ideas generator with a strong customer focus. You will be entrepreneurially spirited, able to spot and act upon opportunities as they arise.


You will also be a first-rate communicator, able to influence and galvanise a variety of opinions and voices throughout the organisation. You will be passionate about design and brand identity, as well as possessing a deep understanding of social media strategy, tapping into content and digital advertising initiatives.


Experience of developing innovative approaches to well-established brands would be perfect, as would experience with brand management toolkits and guidelines.
