Audit & Assurance Associate - Bertelsmann Accounting Services

Bertelsmann Accounting Services Ltd (BeAS) is an accounting shared service centre established in 2018 to provide accounting functions for Bertelsmann group companies in the UK. Comprising of a team of over 50, and based at the Penguin Random House distribution centre on the outskirts of Colchester, the group companies served by BeAS include Penguin Random House, DK, BMG, Arvato SCM and Prinovis. The services provided by BeAS include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking, Audit and General Accounting (general ledger, fixed assets, tax, financial reporting etc.). 


If you’re looking to develop your career in audit, we’re looking for an Audit & Assurance Associate to join the team to support with the external statutory audit of the publishing business and statutory accounts preparation for a growing list of entities within the Bertelsmann group. This role plays an important part in ensuring the accuracy of the financial information provided by the group.


Reporting directly to the Audit & Assurance Manager, your main responsibilities will include: 


  • Preparing statutory financial statements
  • Assisting with the management and coordination of audit deliverable listings for group and statutory audits 
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure complete and timely information is provided to external auditors
  • Liaising with Bertelsmann Internal Audit team and Compliance Accountant on any relevant Internal Audits
  • Assisting the Audit & Assurance Manager with review processes, reviews of balance sheet and financial controls, compliance and governance


Candidate Profile


You will have:


  • The ability to work effectively within a team
  • Some previous relevant professional experience
  • The ability to communicate clearly and provide a high level of customer service to your key stakeholders
  • Good attention to detail, able to produce work that is both accurate and high quality
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet fixed deadlines.  
  • Strong IT and system skills (particularly in MS Excel)


You’ll either be studying towards an accountancy qualification or be willing to do so – we will be able to support you with obtaining it.
