Assistant Video Producer (Penguin Creative)

Can you make ideas come to life with video content that engages Young Adult audiences?

In this role, you’ll be tasked with producing high quality video content across our social channels including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

As a member of the award-winning Penguin Creative team your role will be to help improve the visual identity and video engagement of the world’s most loved book brand. You’ll be across all parts of the process from creative development to production, editing and distribution.

Across all our content, you’ll help to maintain Penguin Random House’s high visual standards, as well as maximising impact and shareability.

You’ll be reporting to our Senior Video Producer and work collaboratively alongside our Video Producer. As our new Assistant Producer, you will need to be a people person; the role involves collaborating with teams across all our publishing divisions. You’ll also need to be confident filming high profile authors and celebrities that we publish like Stormzy.

You’ll be required to wear many hats and assist the video team by adopting the various roles that support video production. You will assist the Video Team in setting up for video shoots either on location or our in-house video studio. You will be expected to assist in dressing sets, setting up and packing down grip and lighting equipment, operating camera and sound equipment, and ensuring sets are neat and safely secured. Post shooting you will be expected to assist in data wrangling and setting up projects to ensure they are ready to move into post-production.

You’ll be instrumental in the post-production process, ensuring new video projects are organised correctly and edited into assembly cuts, ready for a video producer to finalise. You will assist in the scheduling of content for the Penguin YouTube channels. You will also ensure rushes and exports are correctly archived following the completion of a shoot. It is important that the high visual standards associated with Penguin Creative are represented in our videos as well as impact, accessibility and shareability.

You’ll work across many video projects as required by the wider business and join a weekly video brainstorm where you’ll be encouraged to offer creative ideas for new video formats and responses to briefs. You’ll also get the chance to brainstorm ideas for other areas of the Penguin Creative team such as photography, design, illustration, UX design and campaign creative.

Most importantly, you will take ownership of the development of a TikTok channel for our younger audiences. Experience on TikTok would be very advantageous.

If this sounds like the role for you, we want to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and cover letter by Sunday 24th October.

In your cover letter, tell us about one piece of content you’d like to curate for our Young Adult audience on TikTok. If invited to interview, we will discuss this idea further with you. Interviews will be held virtually.
