Royalty Accounts Assistant

We have an exciting and new opportunity for a Royalty Accounts Assistant to join our growing team based at our Offices and Distribution centre in Frating, Colchester.



What’s the role?

The number one priority for us is to make sure that our authors are paid correctly and on time. The accounting team is responsible for payments, reconciliations and financial reporting, dealing with authors, agents and internal departments. This assistant role will be supporting the accountants in the team to make sure this work is done.



What are we looking for?

  • This role will suit someone who is team focused and self-motivated. You will be confident working individually on your own workload and hitting deadlines, whilst being part of a wider team.

  • A good team player with good communication skills.

  • Your attention to detail and ability to process high numbers of emails will be important, alongside a disciplined and structured approach to planning and organising your workload.

  • You will possess strong IT and systems skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.  


What is important to us is that you are eager to learn, have good attention to detail, and are not afraid to ask questions.  We will, of course, train you on our systems and give you all the tools you need to succeed. We do not expect you to have any finance or accounting experience. Our teams work with bespoke systems and all training will be provided.


Core responsibilities

  • Ownership of the weekly payment run, ensuring all payments have been signed off appropriately for payment, set up correctly & paid to the correct parties.

  • Shared ownership of the Royalties inbox ensuring that all queries are replied to in a timely, accurate manner.

  • Responsibility for the reconciliation of royalty accounts on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

  • Where necessary make adjustments to the royalty and payment ledgers in the Royalty System.

  • Ad Hoc posting/queries both internally & externally as and when they arise.

  • Complete monthly system adjustments.

  • Work in collaboration with the rest of the team to ensure that we work efficiently & effectively

  • You’ll be confident working with numbers and using Excel

This role will be based at our site in Frating – where free parking is available. The Royalty Accounts team currently work from home four days a week, going in to the office on a Thursday.

The interview for this role will be onsite in Frating, alongside a data entry task which will be explained on the day. We plan for interviews to go ahead on Thursday 7th July.

Salary: c. £21,000 dependant on how your skills and experience align with the role, plus bonus and benefits
