We have an opportunity for an Application Support Analyst to join our Technology team here at Penguin Random House. The role will be based at our distribution site in Frating, Colchester but occasional travel to our London sites may be required. The role is offered on a 12m FTC basis.


Reporting to the Application Support Team Manager, you’ll provide Level 2 support for all the applications under the remit of the Application Management Support Team. This role will focus mainly on managing the EDI application from a development, functionality and support perspective.


The main areas of responsibility are:


  • Resolution and management of Incidents and Requests for all applications supported by the team.
  • Support all new developments and enhancements through the release process.
  • Provide a quality, reliable and timely support service delivering to the agreed Service Level Agreements.
  • Provide support to the Project Managers during the development lifecycle of a project.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve on-going technical issues.
  • Provide shift coverage via a rotating weekly rota, hours covered by the team are between 6am – 6pm Monday to Friday.  Occasional weekend and evening on-call coverage required.

It is essential that you have previous experience of working in a support team and that you have EDI technical fluency, including Tradacom & EDIFACT. Experience of SQL and MS Access is also essential, alongside developer programming exposure. Ideally you will come from a publishing or distribution background with a good understanding of publishing product creation workflow/processes and customer supply chain processes.


 It goes without saying you’ll be an excellent communicator and team-player and able to remain calm whilst under pressure. Highly organised and analytical, you’ll find it easy to prioritise work and manage deadlines. The role will be based in Frating but will require travel to our London offices, therefore willingness and ability to travel is essential.
