SAP Sales and Logistics Manager, Technology

We are looking for a SAP Sales and Logistics Manager who would report into the Head of SAP.


You will be responsible for the Sales and Logistics competencies provisioned within PRH Technology, delivering in depth SAP SD/MM and IM expertise, implementing an optimal functional support team, functional governance and business stakeholder engagement across solution areas.

You will be working closely with management, key business users and technology colleagues to provide high-quality functional support, deliver solution configuration enhancements, and build a roadmap of improvement projects and initiatives relating to the current SAP solution (Including tools where applicable).


Your Key Responsibilities & Duties required for this role:


  • Provide leadership, direction and governance of the responsible finance functional support teams in alignment with PRH Business & Technology IT Strategy.
  • Continual evaluation of new SAP technology which could be of potential use to PRH.
  • Provide functional expertise, guidance, presentations, and leadership on leveraging the capabilities of SAP Sales and Distribution, Materials Management and Inventory Management to business stakeholders.
  • Act as an SME liaison between business key users and the technology team for investigating, analysing, and implementing SAP business solutions (this includes documenting and mapping business requirements, analysing processes, identifying business change gaps, and developing the necessary SAP configuration modifications to satisfy business needs).
  • Produce end-to-end solutions for new and existing projects (blueprints, gap analysis, functional specifications, build and test management, etc.).
  • Deliver configuration enhancements from concept to solution (change requests).
  • Manage any Major Incidents ensuring timely resolution of the issue and appropriate communication and escalation to the Head of SAP, the rest of Technology and business users.
  • Support Incident and Request process ensuring calls are resolved in an appropriate time according to their priority (Incident, Change and Problem).
  • Manage incident, request, change and problem resolution (root-cause analysis, problem statements) where assigned to the Sales and logistic team
  • Deliver maintenance releases (defect fixes).
  • Provide high-quality mentoring, knowledge transfer and training for SAP Sales and Distribution, Materials Management and Inventory Management to business super users, end-users and existing technology team members.
  • Working collaboratively with business stakeholders, develop 12 month roadmaps for enhancements and project activities.
  • Able to investigate issues from a technical perspective using trace/debugging tools to identify root cause for problems and subsequently fix the underlying issues.
  • Monitor key SAP business processes to ensure they are being followed and where improvement is needed, collaboratively introducing appropriate activities with business users to drive adoption.
  • Day to Day BAU SAP SD, MM, IM support and troubleshooting across the implemented SAP systems (Working closely with the Business, Technology and Project teams where necessary).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the SAP Change Control / Transport and Correction system management system.
  • Provide out of hours go-live / upgrade support where required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Service desk ticketing system.


Team Management

  • Lead the team of functional and support analysts to deliver exceptional service, develop and implement best practice processes and procedures across the department (in on-shore and off-shore model).
  • Performance management of the team, ensuring regular 1-1’s, team meetings and PDR reviews are held.
  • Monitor and report on support capability and performance of 3rd party suppliers.
  • Manage the workload of the team ensuring areas of responsibility is understood, knowledge share becomes second nature and appropriate documentation is in place.
  • Support and mentor team members to identify their career aspirations and help them identify potential avenues for progression.
  • Ensure regular succession planning takes place, identify potential risks and opportunities to minimise the risk from staff turnover.
  • Monitor the call logging system to ensure calls are being dealt with appropriately dealing with any call escalations from end users.
  • Eliminate the risk from having any single points of failure.



  • Ensure and maximise the level of service from all suppliers according to SLA’s, budget and contracts.
  • Hold regular service review sessions with suppliers to ensure their delivery meets the business requirements.
  • Review all support contracts to ensure standardisation of contract terms and conditions; negotiating changes with suppliers where required.
  • Review requirement for out of hours support from all suppliers.
  • Negotiate any changes required (SLA’s, costs etc.) to Supplier contracts to ensure we receive the best possible value and customer service.


To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Strong configuration and testing skills in the area of SAP SD, MM and IM.
  • Solid understanding of the business and the SAP product set in order to effectively analyse the current state and how changes may need to be made to successfully implement a SAP solution.
  • Demonstrated track record of thought leadership in SAP SD, MM and IM.
  • Highly developed client management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to write at a publication quality level in order to communicate findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders. Proven high levels of proficiency in the areas of:


  • Design, configuration and testing of core SD, MM and IM modules
  • Experience of SAP Sales and Distribution functionality
  • Experience of SAP Materials Management functionality
  • Experience of SAP Inventory Management functionality
  • Experience with report writer and report painter
  • Experience and knowledge of key integration points with SD, MM & IM modules
  • Business process analysis and redesign experience: strong business analysis skills; process mapping; business process redesign and implementation.
  • Systems implementation skills: requirements / process analysis, conceptual and detailed design, configuration, testing, training, change management, support.
  • Ability to produce high quality functional specifications and work collaboratively with functional teams, Basis and developers to build, test and support those developments.
  • Good knowledge of software development lifecycle in SAP and practical technical experience of ABAP tools with the ability to problem solve technical issues.
  • Strong knowledge of integration points.
  • Be able to develop functional specifications for business reports.
  • Reading and debug knowledge of ABAP.
  • Demonstrable experience of full SAP project lifecycles as a SAP SD, MM or IM consultant or lead.
  • In depth knowledge of the SAP SD, MM or IM minimum 10 years’ experience.
  • A high-level knowledge of SAP application areas, FI, MM, IM and SD, and how they interact.
  • Proven ability to lead a team and manage team members (onshore / offshore).
  • Proven ability to take ownership of problems and the decision making process to resolve them.

Nice to have skills:

  • Understanding of the key ITIL processes used by the business including incident management, request fulfilment, change and release management.
  • Articulate, with good analytical abilities, interpersonal, and reporting skills.
  • In-depth experience handling diverse and complicated issues.
  • Proven ability to document and communicate clearly whilst following internal procedures for both local and central access to system data.
