Royalty Manager, Colchester

We are recruiting for a Royalty Manager to join our team based at our Distribution centre in Frating, Colchester. This position is offered on a permanent basis. Reporting directly to the Royalty Department Manager you’ll be tasked with meeting the growing demands of the business and leading the team to success.

Your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Work closely with the Royalty Department Manager to play an active role in staff development, training and onboarding
  • Assist team leaders at busy periods and ensure that there is adequate cover for essential tasks
  • Take responsibility for period end procedures
  • Investigate possibilities for improvements to processes and procedures
  • Review author statements, assist with author queries and resolve any issues
  • Recommend changes to existing methods of working where efficiency, accuracy and reporting could be improved
  • Encourage staff to identify improvements to the efficiency of their workflow
  • Take on department administrative tasks where appropriate (e.g. holiday bookings, attendance sheets)
  • Arrange and facilitate meetings to ensure that staff are kept up-to-date on current issues

You’ll play a key leadership role in the wider Royalties team and will be tasked with bringing the department together as one unit, seeking training and development opportunities for your team members as well as other line management responsibilities including performance reviews.

You’ll be communicating with a wide range of people in this role – from authors, agents and licensees to publishing teams internally. You’ll therefore be using your people skills to influence and collaborate on a daily basis.

As part of a merged business, there will also be ad hoc projects and change pieces to work through. Things we’re looking at currently for example are projects around merging the royalty systems and enhancing our KPI reporting.

This role will suit someone with extensive management experience, ideally working in a similar finance services environment. This could be in Royalties or Rights or even Credit Services or Accounts Receivable. What’s important are your high standards of accuracy and attention to detail, your ability to prioritise and keep things moving in a high-pressure and busy environment. Working with change, and being able to find improved ways of doing things is also an essential part of what we’re looking for.

Finally, given your leadership role and the wide range of people you’ll be working with daily, your communication skills will also be fundamental to your success in this role. Experience working with royalty calculations and an accounting qualification would be a plus but is not essential.

Please apply to us with a CV and Cover Letter. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.

Please note, we are not able to accept agency CVs for this role. Any CVs sent speculatively will not be eligible for a fee.
