Part Time Accounts Receivable Clerk (12m FTC), Colchester

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our growing Bertelsmann Accounting Services Team based at the Penguin Random House Distribution Centre in Frating, Colchester.


This role is offered on a part time, temporary 12 month basis and the hours will be Monday to Friday 9:30 to 14:00 (negotiable but 22.5 hours per week).


The Penguin Random House Group has recently moved to a Shared Service Centre model, and we are now expanding our Accounts Receivable Team. You will report into the Bertelsmann Accounting Services UK Project Manager to provide key support in this pivotal role.


Your main responsibilities will include:


  • Monitoring customer accounts and allocating customer payments;
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports as required;
  • Maintaining customer’s accounts on the SAP system, ensuring invoices are paid promptly;
  • Reconciling the customer’s statement to the ledger;
  • Credit management tasks including chasing for payments, distributing reminders and customer statements and liaising with Account Managers and Finance colleagues to   minimise debtor balances across the ledger;
  • General administrative and financial duties as required.


This role will suit someone who is team focused and self-motivated. You will be confident working in a larger team whilst also completing your own projects to a consistently high standard to meet deadlines. Your attention to detail and ability to process high levels of data will be second to none, alongside a disciplined and structured approach to planning and organising your workload.


Ideally you will possess strong IT and systems skills including Excel and will be a fast and determined learner. SAP knowledge would be useful, but training will be provided if you are not familiar with this accounting software. Experience within a similar setting would be beneficial, but is not essential.
