Head of General Accounting, Publishing

Our Accounting Services team are recruiting for a Head of General Accounting - Publishing to join them on a permanent basis. This role will be located at our distribution site in Frating, Colchester.

As Head of the publishing General Accounting team, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient service delivery of key finance functions. Managing a team of approximately 15 people through 6 direct reports, this critical role will manage, develop and deliver SLA services, controls and compliance activities to drive the future success of our Shared Service Centres.

Reporting directly to the Head of Accounting Services, this role would best suit someone who is a technically proficient finance professional, with a personable approach to problem solving and with excellent people management skills. You’ll be an established leader and will possess a natural ability to forge long standing business relationships, underpinned and governed by SLA delivery.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as finance lead and establishing and developing partnerships with clients and our sister companies
  • Lead and develop the publishing General Accounting team of 6 direct reports and 9 indirect reports
  • Preparation and presentation of annual budgets and forecasts
  • Day to day delivery of client Management Account and Financial Account activities through strong foundations of Balance Sheet control
  • Maintain a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties including clients and advisors
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Owner of the end-to-end process for numbers which are booked into the PRH UK Trial Balance (P&L and BS). This should ensure processes are understood, controlled, and optimised through working with key stakeholders

It is essential that you are a qualified accountant with relevant post-qualification experience. You’ll have extensive managerial experience to date and will ideally have a background in multiple entity companies. Advanced IT and systems skills including MS Excel will be crucial.
