Bertelsmann Accounting Services Ltd (BeAS) is an accounting shared service centre established in 2018 to provide accounting functions for Bertelsmann group companies in the UK. Comprising of a team of over 50, and based at the Penguin Random House distribution centre on the outskirts of Colchester, the group companies served by BeAS include Penguin Random House, DK, BMG, Arvato SCM and Prinovis. The services provided by BeAS include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking and General Accounting (general ledger, fixed assets, tax, financial reporting etc.).

 

We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Essex based Finance team to provide a range of financial services to both our publishing and non-publishing customers in the UK.

 

Positioned within our Accounting Services team, your main responsibilities will include:

 

  • Implement and take ownership of the full balance sheet review process
  • Manage and develop the financial accounts activities to ensure strong balance sheet control
  • Supporting year-end group reporting and statutory audits
  • Assisting with the preparation of statutory financial statements  
  • Liaising with internal & external stakeholders to ensure integrity of period end reporting
  • Reviewing, updating and enhancing departmental procedures
  • Ensure correct application of Group Accounting Policies

 

This role will be best suited to a candidate who is an experienced, proficient and focused finance professional. Your ability to work collaboratively within a team will be crucial in ensuring departmental success, and will be at the forefront of your skills. You’ll excel under pressure and will have the demonstrable ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.

 

Your analytical and problem-solving capabilities will be second to none and you’ll ideally be an advanced user of IT and systems, with a high proficiency in Microsoft Excel. You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with relevant experience.  Ideally you will have either trained at, or had previous experience working within, an accountancy practice and had exposure to auditing.
