We are looking for a Cost Accountant to join our team on a part time basis, based at the main distribution centre for the Penguin Random House Group in Frating, Colchester.  This role is offered on a permanent basis and will sit within our Accounting Services department.

 

The working pattern for this position will be 8:30-16:30, 3 days per week.

 

Your day to day responsibilities within the role will be:

 

  • Managing the end to end costing function for a commercial publishing division
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the integrity of our costing approach
  • Provide immediately visibility to any exceptions in terms of abnormal costs
  • Further developing and maintaining a framework of accounting controls to enable the department to be operated in an efficient and effective manner, safeguarding assets and minimising liabilities.
  • Ensuring that the financial information within The Penguin Random House Group is accurate and reflects the true position of the company at any one point in time
  • Carry out month end tasks

 

To be successful in this role you will ideally be studying towards an accounts qualification and will have a good working knowledge of MS Excel. Experience of  SAP, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis would be beneficial but not essential.

 

You’ll be a detail focused, highly self-motivated and organised individual with the ability to work collaboratively to ensure personal and departmental success. A demonstrable ability to build and maintain strong working relationships will be key, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
