We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Accounting Services team based at our Distribution centre in Frating, Colchester. This role is offered on a fixed term contract basis to cover a period of maternity leave.


Reporting directly to the Head of General Accounting (Publishing), your main responsibilities will include:


•    Monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting 
•    Daily sales reporting
•    Produce balance sheet reconciliations and investigating and clearing any discrepancies
•    Assisting in the completion of the tax computations by providing information and answers to the groups tax consultant
•    Work with key stakeholders within the Penguin Random House Group Company management/financial accounts process to ensure strong controls, compliance and governance
•    Run monthly sales reports for the commercial teams
•    Ensure correct application of Group Accounting Policies
•    Assisting with the delivery of year end, half year and interim audits
•    Liaise with internal teams and Compliance Accountant on any relevant internal audits 
•    Deliver any departmental task required within the wider Accounting Services department

 

This role will best suit someone who is an experienced, proficient and focused individual. Your ability to work effectively within a team to ensure personal and departmental success will be at the forefront of your skills, and you will excel under pressure. A demonstrable ability to build and maintain strong working relationships will be key, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. 

 

Ideally you’ll be studying towards an accountancy qualification and will have some relevant experience under your belt. Strong IT and system skills such as MS Excel will be essential.
