Accounts Payable Clerk (Maternity Cover, 15m FTC), Colchester

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk to join our growing Bertelsmann Accounting Services Team. 


This role is offered on a fixed term contract basis (approx. 15 months) and will be based at the Penguin Random House Distribution Centre in Frating, Colchester.


The Accounting Services team is responsible for all financial services covering Purchase to Pay (P2P), Order to Cash (OTC) and Record to Report (R2R) activities. This position will be focused within the P2P activity, which is responsible for controlling all transactions associated with the procurement of indirect services, facilities and direct goods.


Reporting into the Accounts Payable Supervisor, you will effectively manage and control the data flows in and out of the P2P system for your respective section of the ledger.


Your key responsibilities will include:

•    Maintain supplier’s accounts on the SAP system, ensuring that invoices are paid promptly according to the supplier terms
•    Reconciling the supplier’s statement to the ledger
•    Request that new suppliers account be set up if necessary
•    Obtaining copy invoices 
•    Chasing up invoices that have not been authorised promptly
•    General administrative and financial duties as required


This role will suit someone who is team focused and self-motivated. You will be confident working in a larger team whilst also completing your own projects to a consistently high standard to meet deadlines. Your attention to detail and ability to process high levels of data will be second to none, alongside a disciplined and structured approach to planning and organising your workload.


You’ll come from an Accounts Payable background with P2P experience/exposure and will have strong IT and systems skills including Excel. SAP knowledge would be useful, but training will be provided if you are not familiar with this accounting software.
