System Administrator (m/f/d)

Our systems must support

•  Approx. 500'000 transactions/month
• Approx. 600'000 transactions/month
• 250 requests/minute

At our location in Mendrisio we are looking for a System Administrator who will contribute to our mission of being a company that scales sustainably.

Main responsibilities include

• First-level support for users
• Create, manage and monitor high-availability (HA) system & database clusters
• Maintenance of our IT infrastructure
• Reacting fast and proactively to the alarms triggered by the monitor system (icinga and centreon)
• Support for the proper and trouble-free operation of the infrastructure (in-house )
• Maintain and improve procedures and documentation
• Improve, or better, automate boring and repetitive tasks
• Participation in projects and sub-project management for the further development and renewal of the IT infrastructure
• Support on system migrations
• Support for those responsible for applications in the area of IT infrastructure
• Possibility to work with the developers teams to expand and maintain CI/CD pipeline using tools like GitLab, Teamcity
• Automate and improve deploy systems using tools like Ansible, etc.
• Investigating new technologies

We are looking for

• An interested and motivated person

• Completed training as a computer scientist specializing in systems engineering or comparable professional experience
• Target-orientated approach to meet goals
• Deep experience administering Linux (Centos, RHEL, Ubuntu) systems
• Basic knowledge of virtualization system (VMware)
• Basic knowledge of network and security (WAN, LAN, firewall, proxy)
• Experience with monitor system (nagios, icinga)
• Knowledge of web application technology, (i.e. Tomcat, nginx, pcs, etc.) 
• Knowledge of RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL)
• Knowledge of scripting/programming language like python and bash
• Customer oriented personality with a good demeanor
• Good communication and inter-personal skills
• Fluency in English

Nice to have

• Experience with modern authentication mechanisms and protocols (e.g. Keycloak)
• Experience setting up replication, sharding and other high availability solutions
• Knowledge of Java
• Experience working with Docker and/or Kubernetes 
• MS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
