Mergers and Acquisitions Analyst

The successful candidate will support the Head of M&A as part of a small M&A team to work alongside the senior management team across all of Fremantle’s businesses, assessing and undertaking agreed M&A opportunities, with a particular emphasis on scripted and unscripted production businesses, and be focused on activity in the areas of mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, strategic alliances and/or joint ventures.

Working alongside global colleagues and external professional advisers, the successful candidate will report into the Head of M&A and assist on all activity in the M&A space, having the following deliverables:


  • Assist in all (and take ownership of certain) aspects of an M&A process from start to finish, including identifying target opportunities, negotiating terms, performing due diligence, and reviewing transaction documentation
  • Help deliver the overall agreed M&A strategy in terms of priorities, targets and opportunities
  • Evaluate new business opportunities, in both the traditional production sector and any other new business areas of strategic priority identified by senior management team, including but not limited to: mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures
  • Review investment performance against business plan and strategic objectives
  • Research, analyse and prepare presentations and alternatives on M&A and general strategy objectives as requested including analysis with regional colleagues as to new market assessment and related entry strategy
  • Company research and investment analysis, valuation and financial modeling
  • Assist in the management of existing portfolio investments including preparation of quarterly
  • operating reviews for senior management team
  • Preparing detailed internal investment proposals, board presentations and M&A update papers
  • Competitor / M&A monitoring and analysis as well as updating of transaction comparable database
  • Act as an ambassador for FM at all times and conduct self with honesty and integrity
  • Travel internationally as required


We’re looking for:


  • Relevant experience, preferably in an investment banking financial analyst program / similar corporate development / M&A role or a commercial finance analyst role within the media sector; not necessarily in a television production environment
  • Demonstrable M&A experience with proven track record of deal exposure
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word with well-established financial modeling and valuation skills
  • Well accustomed to working within a competitive, demanding and fast-moving environment
  • A personable, charismatic and professional individual
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to build and develop internal and external relationships (able to exhibit diplomacy and discretion)
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Proven interest and professional background in media and entertainment sectors
  • Professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) required
  • Excellent academic record
