The Role and the team
Fremantle’s Global Insight Department plays a pivotal role in analysing performance metrics, audience behaviours, and content trends. The Data & Analytics team within this department is responsible for developing and maintaining the company’s performance data infrastructure and delivering actionable insights across a wide range of business areas.
We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer to support the development and maintenance of our data platforms. This is an entry-level role, ideal for a recent graduate or someone with 1–2 years of experience looking to build a career in data engineering.
You will report to the Analytics Engineer, supporting the creation and maintenance of data pipelines, assisting with data transformation and modelling, and helping improve the reliability and efficiency of our data processes, gaining hands-on experience with real-world data systems and workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the collection, transformation, and validation of data from multiple sources
- Assist in building, maintaining, and monitoring data pipelines and workflows
- Help prepare and structure datasets for use in analysis and reporting, ensuring data is accurate and accessible
- Troubleshoot data quality issues and support improvements to data reliability
- Support the automation of recurring data processes and the reduction of manual workflows
- Contribute to the documentation of data processes, transformations, and pipeline logic
Mandatory Skills / Experience
- Knowledge of SQL and working with structured datasets
- Good understanding of Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and IF statements
- Understanding of data transformation and data processing concepts
- Ability to work with and interpret data from multiple sources
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A passion for TV, storytelling, and how data can transform the business
Preferred Skills / Experience
- Experience with Python or another programming language for data processing
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts, with some experience working with large datasets
- Experience or interest in automating data processes and workflows
- Exposure to data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI or similar)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, including exposure to Power Apps or Power Automate
- Awareness of AI concepts, with an interest in exploring agent-based automation to enhance data workflows (e.g. chatbots, process improvements)
- Exposure to APIs or external data sources is a plus, but not essential
