Acquisitions and Development Executive

Job Overview

 

This role provides vital support to the Global EVP of Development & Acquisitions, playing a central part in Fremantle’s worldwide content strategy. You’ll be at the heart of the development and acquisitions process-actively scanning the global unscripted format landscape, identifying emerging opportunities, and potential formats and IP for consideration. You’ll collaborate closely with international teams, gathering, analysing and distributing insights on format concepts and shows with strong acquisition or development potential, ensuring territories are aligned, informed, and empowered to act quickly in a fast‑moving market. Main Responsibilities

  

Development and Acquisitions - Information Management

  • Manage material distribution and feedback from within Fremantle on internally developed formats and potential shows for acquisition.  
  • Manage information, maintain and update tracking systems, circulation lists and format materials across Acquisitions and Development.
  • Respond to regular information requests on formats, research and share relevant materials in a timely manner.
  • Contributing to partnership discussions and collaborative opportunities with content partners. Liaison, information sharing and reporting with external producers, partners, format owners, distributors and relevant global Fremantle teams.
  • Compile concise and regular territory feedback on relevant formats - both developed and acquired. 
  • Co-ordinate, Research, compile and produce format feedback and pipeline updates and competitor reports. 

 

Scouting

  • Co-ordinate and monitor materials, audience insights and ratings for all new formats launching around the world.  Manage regular format updates for the department and international territories.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, research formats and the digital landscape.
  • Awareness of digital native formats, social trends and creators for potential development collaborations and format acquisitions 

 

Pipeline Tracking and Updates

  • Providing notes, action points and follow up materials from calls and meetings. Distributing action points, reports and information to key stakeholders across Fremantle.
  • Send out regular updates, notes from meetings and follow up action points and materials.

 

Tracking systems management

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Acquisitions and Development tracking and internal systems
  • Manage development slate and archive and produce regular activity updates and supply information on formats to development teams, including sending out weekly “What’s Hot” updates.

  

Presentations

  • Support the EVP Acquisitions to prepare regular audio-visual presentations both for internal and external use.
  • Edit down programmes and promos.
  • Liaise with marketing and design teams on preparation of materials.

 

Events and workshops

  • Co-ordinate and assist with various internal and external presentations /events /conferences /workshops
  • Attend TV markets as and when required (international travel may be necessary).  Assist in the compilation of pre and post-market reports.

 

Territory liaison/administration

  • To be a key point of contact for territory queries.
  • Assist in general administration
  • Any other duties as reasonably required by Management

 

 

Key Skills

 

  • Substantial experience within television development, production, audience research or insights, with a strong understanding of the TV and digital landscape.
  • Experience working within a global organisation, with a strong understanding of collaborating across different time zones and cultures, and an appreciation of varied cultural approaches and international television landscapes.
  • Highly proactive and selfmotivated, with the ability to anticipate needs, take ownership, and drive tasks forward without being prompted.
  • Exceptional attention to detail-able to manage high volumes of information accurately and spot inconsistencies or opportunities quickly.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence in conveying information clearly across senior stakeholders and international teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationshipbuilding abilities, partnering effectively with clients, colleagues, creative teams and global business units.
  • A collaborative team player who contributes positively to group dynamics and supports colleagues under time pressure.
  • Analytical thinker with strong problemsolving skills, able to approach challenges creatively and think beyond the obvious.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, plus Macsavvy with Keynote, email platforms and internet research tools.
  • Comfortable working with data and insights, able to synthesise findings into clear recommendations.
  • Curious, adaptable and eager to learn, with a genuine appetite to develop new skills, understand new markets, and take on increasing responsibility.
  • Strong initiative, demonstrating commitment to seeing tasks through to completion with pace and accuracy.
  • Passion for media, entertainment and global content trends, keeping informed on emerging formats, talent and viewing behaviours.
