Project Editor - DK+

Are you on top of the latest trends in pop culture and licensed entertainment? Have you had experience in managing multiple visual book projects? Are you ready to take a role in connecting non-fiction content to fans in innovative and creative ways?

 

If so, DK is recruiting a Project Editor, Entertainment to help shape our list with exciting partners. You will work with a talented team, working on lists that publish fan-favourite books. As a Project Editor, you will collaborate with partners such as Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Dungeons & Dragons, and Warhammer to produce exceptional books of the highest quality for these licensors’ fan bases and beyond.

 

We’re looking for a resourceful, versatile Project Editor who is highly organised, with proven experience in managing illustrated books from concept to completion. You will work closely with authors, licensors, and internal and external creative teams to produce brilliant books that are delivered both on time and on budget. We also want someone who is brimming with ideas, and who can suggest diverse and exciting new directions for us to explore.

 

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities include:

● Managing books from concept stage to print

● Liaising with authors, freelancers, and licensors

● Collaborating with other departments, including design, marketing, and production

 

You should be comfortable:

● Managing simultaneous projects at different stages of development

● Shaping editorial content from outline stage to print-ready pages, and working with designers in a collaborative way to produce books of the highest standard

● Commissioning and managing external freelancers, authors, illustrators, and consultants

● Giving stellar licensor care

● Keeping up with trends in the ’ pop culture and book spaces

 

Ideally you will have strong project management skills, great interpersonal abilities, and excellent editorial expertise. You will be a strong communicator with a background in publishing, or with a passion for pop culture and entertainment brands. While direct licensing experience is not essential, you should have proven ability to collaborate closely with diverse external stakeholders like authors, illustrators, and creative teams to deliver exceptional projects from concept to completion. We are looking for someone who is full of ideas, willing to try new things, and open-minded. You should have sound commercial awareness, and be flexible and willing to act on opportunities. You are the type of person who is flexible and adaptable to changes. Moreover, you will be working independently on projects, so we are looking for someone confident in their abilities, open to trying new things, and eager to learn.

Salary: starting from £38,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
