DK Knowledge: Project Art Editor (3 months)

 

Are you curious and artistic with a passion for crafting interesting and engaging designs for young readers? We’re looking for a temporary Project Art Editor to join our department and work closely with our team of editors to create the perfect layouts for DK titles.

DK Knowledge make amazing non-fiction books for kids 9+ and this contract is for the final stages of a science title that we’re currently working on.  

Key skills:

  • Excellent grounding in design, layout, and typography
  • Ability to visually and verbally communicate information for print
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to and apply own-project design style guides
  • Work closely with project editor partner to create flatplans and/or synopsis; update as projects progress from initial spreads to final versions; change and update as often as required
  • Work closely with project editor partner to ensure all proposed and actual content is age appropriate for the intended audience, and to research and compile artwork references, ensuringcontent is correct and age appropriate for the intended audience
  • Design spreads for own projects; rework as required
  • Work closely with project editor partner to brief designers, consultants, photographers,illustrators and picture researchers as required
  • Manipulate (eg cut-outs, shadows) and optimize (eg retouching) images as required
