Are you curious and keen? Do you love crafting interesting and engaging content for young readers? Do you enjoy working closely with designers to create the perfect layout? Are you someone who takes pride in building strong relationships with writers, consultants, and illustrators?


DK Knowledge make amazing non-fiction books for kids 9+. We’re looking for a talented, enthusiastic and hard-working editor to join our team. This contract is for the duration of work on an exciting history title that we’re currently developing.  


Key skills/responsibilities:

  • Organise your work as per project schedule, workflow, and briefs.

  • Conduct a range of editorial tasks, for example:

    • Research subject matter to ensure factual accuracy and depth.

    • Edit copies in accordance with a project’s editorial style guide.

    • Collaborate with designers to produce spreads with editorially accurate and relevant visual content.

    • Proofread pages in accordance with a project’s editorial style guide.

  • Maintain excellent communication channels with entire book team, as well as external parties for the duration of a project.

  • Help timely delivery and quality control of new print and digital products for global trade markets.

  • Editorial excellence, creativity, and precision

  • Ability to verbally, and in the written word, communicate information for print

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to use time effectively and multi-task

  • Work closely with project art editor partner to prepare and monitor schedules and workflows for own projects

  • Work closely with project art editor partner, pre-production producers, CTS team if necessary, and SO to ensure agreed schedule dates are met, including batched supply of pre-archive files for translation
