Your Mission at BMG

Your primary mission is supporting the Recorded Music Finance team in New York.

You are the team’s go-to accountant and a reliable resource to post all details of our recorded music projects in SAP as well as to organize the recorded music finance projects in Capture. The financial close plays a big part in this role and your detail-oriented approach helps the team to keep track and to monitor all frontline and catalog projects closely.

 

Your Profile

  • You have an interest in music
  • You have familiarity with accounting within the music business
  • You are comfortable working in a team and are a self-starter. 
  • Your time management skills allow you to meet deadlines easily. 
  • You have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to track and follow through on multiple concurrent projects to completion.
  • You have excellent prioritization skills

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Running accounting functions during month end close
  • SAP reclasses and booking instructions for recharges for monthly close
  • Assist in royalty client inquiries (i.e. pulling back up for expenses, ledgers, etc)
  • Prepare and organize monthly costs review with finance managers and royalties team for Prime Upload
  • Set-Up ION in SAP
  • Set-Up project mapping in Capture
  • Support reporting of US Recorded Music division (revenue & expenses; i.e. ADA Sales Cube)
  • Review and analyze reported income and sales units from distributor monthly for accuracy
  • Review expenses monthly for accuracy (business unit coding, artist coding – balance sheet vs P&L; including IC recharges)
  • Support with special projects and workflow process improvements and inquiries from Recorded Finance leads and teams

 

Must-Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree Accounting, Business or Economics
  • 2+ years financial accounting experience
  • Expert knowledge Microsoft Excel (i.e. VLOOKUP or INDEX)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
