Storage (NAS) Administrator

Scope:

The System Engineer (SE) task is to support the team of SEs in Germany. This includes incident management, patch management, change management and support in problem management (in accordance with ITIL) for the NetApp infrastructure in general. The SE’s main responsibility is to provision storage, manage and monitor the NetApp infrastructure, analyze & troubleshoot incidents and implement changes and service requests.

• As part of the NAS Team to perform various system administration and support tasks including but not limited to:
  • Analyzing and debugging system, services and communication
  • Monitoring storage system status with respect to utilization and performance
  • Providing storage to the customer servers
• Analyze, log, archive, track, prioritize and resolve both common and complex system matters (i.e., problems and issues) in a timely manner (SLA conform) and escalate when necessary
• Ensure all open tickets are attended to and closed according to agreed service levels and prescribed standard processes and ensure that clients are kept well informed of the progress made on outstanding tickets with issues.
• Recommend permanent and temporary solutions and next course of action to resolve problems and issues
• Develop and maintain documentation related to the installation, administration and maintenance of the servers, systems, and services
• Work closely with team members and associated companies in other regions to resolve support issues

Requirements:

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Science, Electronic & Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience
• Have basic-to-intermediate understanding and/or experience with:
  • Familiar with Service Management tools (Ticketing and Monitoring)
  • Familiar with NetApp systems (CDot, MetroCluster)
  • Ability to create scripting solutions for automation in this tool contexts
• Must be familiar with operation support on a global scale. Knowledge of information security and ITIL processes is preferable
• Flexible and willing to work in dynamic environment with client-driven projects and run-and-maintain business operations. Candidates are expected to communicate and collaborate with clients and colleagues in EU, North America and/or Asia-Pacific regularly
• Have solid analytical, interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
• Independent, self-disciplined, self-organized, and able to learn and work under/with minimum supervision
